Hi, I'm Kendall — and this is Dozer. 🐾

Dozer is a 1 year and 8 month old Siberian Husky who came into my life as a rescue. He's playful, full of personality, and has the most soulful blue eyes you've ever seen. He also came to me with something I wouldn't wish on any dog — heartworm disease.

What is Heartworm Disease?

Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal condition caused by a parasitic worm called Dirofilaria immitis. It is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito — meaning any dog, anywhere, can be at risk. Once infected, the worms travel through the bloodstream and take up residence in the heart, lungs, and surrounding blood vessels, where they can grow up to 12 inches long.

Left untreated, heartworm disease causes severe lung disease, heart failure, and damage to other organs. It is not something that goes away on its own — and without treatment, it is fatal. Treatment is intensive, expensive, and requires weeks of strict rest and monitoring. But it can save a dog's life — and that's exactly what we're fighting for.

Dozer's Story

Dozer didn't ask for this. He came to me already carrying this disease, already fighting without even knowing it. Now it's my turn to fight for him. His full treatment is estimated at $1,500 — and every single dollar of that feels like a mountain when you're doing it alone.
